I'm at Melissa's house watching her kids (or currently ignoring her kids, as the case may be) while she's at the eye doctor with her eldest.
She just found out that said oldest kid has to now go on a dairy-free/lactose-free diet. For six months. To make life easier on herself, everyone in the family is going dairy free.
Do any of you out there have any suggestions, tips, tricks, websites, books, witch doctors that might help make this a little bit easier on her?
Any and all recomendations will help. Especially those witch doctors.

I know of some good recipe books, or at least I've heard they're good, but they don't include a whole host of allergens, not just milk, so I don't know if she really feels like avoiding all those things, too. The best thing she can do is read labels. It's very difficult to remember to do that at first, but it becomes second nature to pick up a product and immediately turn to the ingredients list. Also, you have to read the whole list; not every company does a kindness and list potential allergens at the end in bold--the gov't doesn't make them do that, they choose to. But not all companies feel the need, so be sure to look for milk ingredients, including whey. Also, she might consider subscribing to the emailed newsletter Allergy Moms. It has good tips for helping little ones deal with the pressures of allergies, as well as medical research being done and tips on how to deal with an allergic child.
