The best thing she can do is read labels. It's very difficult to remember to do that at first, but it becomes second nature to pick up a product and immediately turn to the ingredients list. Also, you have to read the whole list; not every company does a kindness and list potential allergens at the end in bold--the gov't doesn't make them do that, they choose to. But not all companies feel the need, so be sure to look for milk ingredients, including whey. Also, she might consider subscribing to the emailed newsletter Allergy Moms.
